Signatures

Give every mailbox its own signature, or one text for many mailboxes, and place it in campaign emails and replies with {{signature}}.

A signature is fixed text with four variables: {{first_name}}, {{last_name}}, {{title}} and {{company}}. Write it once and every mailbox signs with its own name. It can be plain text or simple HTML with links and line breaks. Variations such as {Best|Cheers} are not allowed in a signature.

Text
Best,
{{first_name}} {{last_name}}
{{title}}, {{company}}

A line whose variables are all empty is left out, so a mailbox without a title gets no empty line.

Which signature a mailbox uses

A mailbox uses its own signature. Without one it uses the signature of the AI agent that answers the campaign, and after that the workspace default. A mailbox can also keep only its own title and company: the text then comes from the default and those values fill it.

Replies only, or campaign emails too

Every signature has the setting Use only in replies, and it is on by default. Then {{signature}} in a campaign email stays empty and only replies carry the signature, because a signature in the first cold email gets fewer replies. Switch it off to put the signature into campaign emails that use {{signature}} as well.

Place it

Write {{signature}} where the signature should go, in a campaign email or in a reply from the inbox. It is filled at send time with the signature of the mailbox that sends. Nothing is added to campaigns on its own: an email without {{signature}} stays as you wrote it. Replies from an AI agent end with the mailbox signature when one is set.

In a plain-text campaign email a link shows as its label followed by the address. In a campaign that sends no links, the signature lines with a link or an address are left out.

In the app

Open Mailboxes, click a mailbox and edit Signature. To set many at once, select them and click Signature in the selection bar: only what you tick changes. The workspace default is under Settings, Mailboxes.

With the API

Set one mailbox:

Shell
curl -X PUT "https://app.argorant.com/api/v1/inboxes/elena@acme.com/signature" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ARGORANT_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"template":"Best,\n{{first_name}} {{last_name}}\n{{title}}, {{company}}","title":"Head of Growth","replies_only":true}'

The answer shows the mailbox's own signature (own) and the one it really uses (effective, with source and the rendered text). GET on the same address reads it and DELETE removes the mailbox's own signature.

Set every mailbox on a domain to the same text:

Shell
curl -X POST "https://app.argorant.com/api/v1/inboxes/signature/bulk" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ARGORANT_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"domains":["acme.com"],"template":"Best,\n{{first_name}}"}'

Choose mailboxes with emails, domains or all: true. Fields you leave out stay as each mailbox has them. clear: true removes their own signatures.

The workspace default is GET, PUT and DELETE on /api/v1/signature. To see how a text reads before you save it, send it to POST /api/v1/signature/preview, with email for a mailbox's name or with your own values.

With the CLI and AI assistants

Shell
argorant inboxes signature set elena@acme.com --text "Best,\n{{first_name}} {{last_name}}" --title "Head of Growth"
argorant inboxes signature bulk --domains acme.com --text "Best,\n{{first_name}}"
argorant signature default set --text "Best,\n{{first_name}}"
argorant signature preview --text "Best,\n{{first_name}}" --mailbox elena@acme.com

--in-campaigns turns replies only off. In Claude and ChatGPT the tools are argorant_get_signature, argorant_set_inbox_signature, argorant_set_inbox_signatures, argorant_set_default_signature and argorant_preview_signature.
